InterTech 2017

Against the backdrop of increasing digitisation, a new term is making the rounds. EdTech stands for the combination of Education & Technology. Nowadays, no reputable educational institution can seriously claim to be able to do without digital teaching technologies.

EdTech enables differentiation independent of location and time, taking into account very different levels of performance. In combination with the use of this tool, it offers efficient possibilities for the evaluation and public presentation of learning outcomes.

In the last two years, IGS has introduced various applications into the classroom in its DaF entry programme for learners without prior German language skills. These include, for example, mixed-age language learning programs, interactive textbooks, a media workshop for primary school, and Google-Suite for Education.

Simple programming tasks have also become the standard in our at the school’s ICT programme. In addition to workshops, an EdTech-Coach is available as a contact person for the teachers. Visitors to the InterTech 2017 were able to find out how digital media is used in various learning situations at IGS. Pupils of grades 7-8 became teachers themselves at this event and presented typical applications in the classroom to parents and guests.

Following the interactive sessions, the possibilities and limits of digital learning were discussed. Apart from the change of school, many parents were impressed by the language skills of the presenters. Some of the pupils have been learning German at this German school abroad for only one year.
