First day of school
How will my first ever day at school be? Will I make friends quickly? When will I be able to read and write?
These and similar thoughts moved fourteen children of the zebra class, who had their first day of school on August 31st. Some new students already knew most current pupils from a visit to the preschool. Each child was greeted with a handshake at the front door of the large villa. All first-grade children sat in the front row of the hall. At 8:30 am, students from Grades 2-4 greeted them with a song. Our music teacher played the piano. In the school’s introductory history, they learned about the life of zebras. After all, as a child of the zebra class, you have to learn something about the way of life of these black and white striped animals. Then finally it was time! You were officially welcomed by your class teacher as members of the zebra class. The children of class 3 took the little ones by the hand and led them through the garden to the colorfully decorated Schultüten tree.
As in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the first graders on the German School campus in HCMC receive a colorful school bag with small gifts on the first day of S/chool. After the zebra children said goodbye to their parents, the zebra class went to their classroom for the first hour.
IGS wishes them a happy and successful time throughout their first year at school.
