Biography
Thomas Locher is a member and the secretary of the Supervisory Board of Asian Pacific Philanthropy Foundation gGmbH (APP), the school operator of the International German School Ho Chi Minh City (IGS), where he also acts as consultant for administrative issues. As CEO of the German school in Cairo, Egypt, called „Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule Kairo (DEO)“, he successfully managed the school from 2013 to 2019 including fundamental construction projects. He also maintains till today close contacts to the world association of German schools abroad called „Weltverband Deutscher Auslandsschulen (WDA)“. His focus on German schools last already back to the nineties, when his children went to the German school in Bandung, Indonesia, where he was also acting as vice-chairman of the board. When he retired in 2019 he worked for almost 30 years as CEO in various medium-sized companies in Germany. Since 2020 he is a board member of a social company in Heidelberg. Besides, he also acts as school mediator at a school in his home town and supporting a small school in Karatu, Tansania.
