NAWI project days at the IGS: IJSO

The International Junior Science Olympiad is a competition for students under the age of 15 who study Biology, Chemistry and Physics. First carried out in Jakarta in 2004, the IJSO now promotes the development of scientific skills across borders and countries. The idea of international exchange between the currently 48 member states plays an important role, especially in the awareness of an encounter school. In addition to theoretical expertise, the focus is on experimentation. In keeping with this year’s motto “Oh Schreck, ein Stain”, the NaWi student council, headed by Ms. Mai, organized four stations at which the young researchers tracked down the stain devil by analyzing the ingredients of different cleaning agents and their effects on the stains under observation. In addition to the joy of experimenting together, the students learned what gummy bears have to do with pigs, why we wash laundry at 30-45 ° C and what living things and detergents have in common. All these were particularly instructive for the participants.
